At the moment:
🤨 Your little one is saying the letters when you point at them, but they're not taking that next step...
😮💨 You're sounding out the words for them but they can't seem to put them together... you can see how hard they're trying, but they can't 'hear' the word.
😓 You don't want them to lose motivation and you dread hearing the phrase 'this is too hard!'
😫 You find yourself getting frustrated - "why don't they get it?" - and you don't know how to help them.
The struggle to support your child can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be that way.
You want to see them take their first steps on their reading journey, to pick up a book and read it, to see that smile on their face when they realise they CAN read and that they had everything they needed to succeed.
Children learn best in small doses, small amounts of time, a few times a day. You, as their parent, are perfectly placed to give your child the best possible help, with quick, fun activities that you can do while they're brushing their hair or walking to the shops.
You can help them practise, help them prepare, and ensure they're making progress, day by day, week by week - and make it fun, every single time.
All you need are the resources and the games to play!

These are the strategies I've used, not just in Nursery and Reception, but in Year 1 and further up the school too. What I teach in this workshop can be adapted for all levels of reading... and you'll find yourself using them for years to come (I certainly do!)
I'm Jen, a Phonics and Early Literacy Specialist and Primary School Teacher, and I am so excited to share the Reading Words workshop with you.
I've always believed that the most important thing I do as a teacher is teach kids to read. Reading is the key that unlocks a world of knowledge, imagination, and endless possibilities. It enables children not just to exist within the world, but to become active members of it.
To give parents like you the tools and knowledge you need to teach your children to read.
I know that by equipping you with the right strategies and resources, we can create a generation of readers who will thrive, not just academically but in the real world too.
Every child deserves the chance to be a confident, independent reader, to explore new worlds through books, and to learn and grow through reading.
This is the same whether your child is just learning their first letters, or is confidently moving on to chapter books. Either way, I'm here to help!
That's why I've put together the Reading Words Workshop, to help you help your kids make that leap from learning letters to reading actual words - and from there, the possibilities are endless!
Your child is picking up books and pointing at the words and you want to go with their motivation before it becomes frustration.
Your child is pointing out letters and words in the world and you can see they understand that words have meaning.
They can tell you the sounds of a few letters (ideally at least these letters
- s a t p i n)
You feel they're ready to read!
Your child isn't showing any interest in words or letters yet.
They're listening to stories when you read them, but not picking up books themselves or making up their own stories.
You don't feel your child is ready to read.
Your child is already reading words - great news! Your child is already past this step! You can head to my shop and see how I can help you with their next one!
Join the Reading Words Workshop!
With a step-by-step guide to supporting your child, along with easy to play, minimal set up required games and activities to try, as well as easy-to-access support, your child will be feeling more confident and making huge steps in their reading in no time!
First off, I completely get it! There are never enough hours in the day to do everything you need to, especially with a little one by your side.
That's why I've designed this workshop to be done in bite-sized chunks, whenever works for you. The longest single video session is 11 minutes long, and even that has sections so you can pause and restart it when you need to.
Every single activity within this workshop is designed to be easy to fit into your day, rather than something you need to 'make time' for. You can do several of these activities when you're walking to the shops, or eating a snack, or even when your little one is brushing their teeth!
Little and often is always best when our kids are learning, so if you have even 3 minutes a day to play with your child, that's more than enough!
A series of instantly accessible, bite sized videos - to walk you through exactly how to support your child as they start to blend words, and how you can help them get 'unstuck' when they're reading a book.
Games and resources - for all stages of this workshop. All games and activities are quick to set up (where set up is even necessary) and play, with most of them being done on-the-go. You also get printable resources to support your child's learning further and to extend the games and make them even more engaging.
Flashcards and words - so you always have an appropriate word for your child to read, as well as the strategies to support them.
Access to my private Client-only Facebook Group - to help you if you ever get stuck, or need some guidance on how to support your child, so you can help them over that reading roadblock quickly and get them back on track.
I completely understand why you might think this. Phonics is so far from how many of us learned to read and helping your child at home can seem really intimidating. It may feel like you need to be 'a teacher' or that you may get it wrong if you don't know what you're doing.
I've worked with so many parents who've had exactly the same worries and concerns, and every single one of them has absolutely nailed teaching their kids at home, with their kids being the ones who benefit most.
Kids retain so much more when they learn in small bursts. Being able to reinforce what your child learns for a couple of minutes a few times a day (when you're walking to and from the shops, just before dinner, when they're brushing their hair etc.) will lead to them making so much more progress than they would with a 1 hour a week session with a tutor.
With the Reading Words workshop, you're saving not only hundreds of pounds compared to a tutor, you're also offering your child the best possible support - the support that only you can give (and support that will benefit them far into the future, not just while they have a tutor!)
As soon as you join, you'll gain access to the Raising Readers Facebook group. In there, you can celebrate any wins or ask any questions you may have and myself and other members of the community will be there to celebrate with you or support you when needs be!
Also, if at any time, you need more support, my inbox is always open!
The activities and resources within the Reading Words Workshop are designed to be used again and again, to ensure your child has a firm foundation that will support them throughout the rest of their reading journey. I still use several of these games in my Year 1 class because they're so easy to extend for any level.
There's absolutely no pace or schedule to follow, except for your child's. This workshop aims to go at their pace and with their interests to make learning to read as easy for them as possible.
No. This workshop is a one-time fee that gives you access to everything within the Reading Words workshop. There are no additional or hidden fees.
Due to the online nature of this workshop and the content, I cannot offer a refund after you have started. However, if you are dissatisfied in any way or have a change in circumstances, get in touch and I'll do my best to support you.
