Lauren

Lauren came to me just over a year ago when her daughter's teacher mentioned that she was concerned about her reading. She was on Red books and struggling to blend words.

Less than a year on, her daughter is now a confident reader, who not only nailed her phonics screen check at the end of Year 1, but is now able to pick up nearly any book and just start reading. In fact, I got a wonderful video of her reading Charlie and the Chocolate factory recently (watch the videos below). And the most important thing is that she loves it too!

This is after 2 months in the Community. She's reading Blue books and starting to read digraphs confidently.

This is one year on! She's now reading full chapter books confidently and is so engaged in the story!

Steph

Steph joined me in September last year. She was very concerned about her son's reading as he was working well below his peers and really struggling to learn, remember and spot new sounds.

In just 4 months, Steph had seen a huge improvement in her son's reading and felt confident to continue on her own. She sent me the first message at Christmas and the second in October the year later! Her son is now reading confidently (at the expected level for his age), has found books he really enjoys and is even asking to read with his mum!

Steph even sent me the videos to compare...

1 Year later

Steph's feelings after 4 months inside the Community, and her son's reading at that point.

The video I got 1 year after she'd joined the Community!

The progress is huge!

And a couple more messages members have sent me!

The Raising Readers Community is for three specific people...

#1

Parents who believe in the power of reading and want to be an active part of their child's education.

#2

Parents who want to help their child around their packed schedules, but don't have the time to go looking for activities to help them with their reading.

#3

Parents who are worried about their child's reading and want to help them overcome the reading roadblocks so they can become a more confident reader.

If you check one (or more) of these boxes, you're in the right place!

Hey there!

I'm Jen, a Phonics and Early Literacy Specialist and Primary School Teacher, and I am beyond thrilled to share with you the story behind the creation of Raising Readers Community.

I've always believed that the most important thing I do as a teacher is teach kids to read. Reading is the key that unlocks a world of knowledge, imagination, and endless possibilities. It enables children not just to exist within the world, but to become active members of it.

My vision is simple:

To give parents like you the tools and knowledge you need to teach your children to read, and support you every step of the way.

I know that by equipping you with the right strategies and resources, we can create a generation of confident readers who will thrive academically and beyond.

Every child deserves the chance to be a confident reader, to explore new worlds through books, and to learn and grow through reading.

Get ready to embark on an exciting reading journey with your little one!

I've been teaching children to read for nearly a decade now and these are the exact games and strategies I've used both in the classroom and 1:1.

I know what I'm sharing in the Raising Readers Community works, because I've seen it do so time and time again.

I want to share it all with you so you can support your children too.

Let's talk refunds for a second…

I want to offer you a 100% risk free guarantee.

When you join, you have 2 weeks to 'play' inside the course. If something feels off and you don't want to continue, no worries.

Just send me an email at [email protected] to let me know.

Just so you know, you can also cancel at any point. There's no minimum number of months you have to say part of the RRC, so it's completely up to you how long you stay for.

Frequently Asked Questions...

How much is it?

It's £37/month. That's less than a single hour of tutoring from a qualified teacher, or a large jellycat cuddly toy!

Why is it priced at £37?

Cost of living has hit us all hard, but I don't think that should stop hard-working parents and carers from being able to support their kids' reading.

Reading is fundamental for all learning. If you can't read, all education gets harder - including maths… we have to read those questions! We all want the best for our kids and money shouldn't stop us from being able to do that.

That's why I keep the price as low as it is, so that you can continue to access the same level of content you'd get if you paid a tutor to work one-to-one with your child, but for a fraction of the price.

All kids deserve to learn to read.

I'm really busy - will I have time to do this?

Even if you only do 1 activity a week, you're giving your child incredible support that will absolutely benefit them and their education.

I've designed the activities to take around 5 minutes to set up and 5 minutes to play (and that's if I'm thinking about the longest activity, most require no set up and can be done in less than 3 minutes) to make it as easy as possible to fit into your day.

They're also adaptable to suit both your child and your timetable, so you'll always be able to find something to suit you each week and each month.

It's also why my inbox (and my messenger, and my voice notes) is always open, so if you ever feel stuck, unsure or confused, you can reach out and get personalised support to help your child at home.

You don't need to spend ages looking for activities or wondering about the answer to a question. The RRC has everything you need, at your fingertips, as well as a huge amount of support if you ever get stuck!

How will the membership help me support my child's reading journey?

The Raising Readers Membership is designed to help you through every stage of your child's reading journey, from recognising their first letter to thinking more deeply about entire books. Each month, you'll be given specific resources and activities to help guide you and your child through the next step of reading in a structured manner.

All resources remain in the Community area for you to refer to throughout the year, for as long as you stay in the Community.

These are the exact activities I've played with the kids in my class and my 1:1 students for 10 years now. I know they work, and I know they can work for you.

What's included again?

3 years of games and activities to support your child in every area of reading, including video instructions for those who take things in better through listening, or so you can listen on the go (worth £540)

Bonus sessions to help you overcome specific reading roadblocks, all suggested by members of the RRC. If something comes up that isn't there, just let me know and I'll add it! (worth £150)

Assessment resources and guides so you always know where your child is on their reading journey and what to work on next (worth £60)

2 Q&A sessions each month (plus an additional Assessment session every 3 months) (worth £25 each)

1:1 support from a qualified teacher, whenever you need (worth £60/hour)

Our incredible Facebook group where you can connect with other parents also on this journey and support each other (priceless!)

How is the Raising Readers Community different from other reading programs or resources?

The focus of the Raising Readers Community is you. I very much listen to members about what would be most useful for them each month, and create resources according to that. If you feel your child needs to be challenged, let me know and I'll get on it. Equally, if you feel your child needs more support, I'm here to help with that too! This Membership really is about you and your family and enabling your child to access reading in a way that works for them.

Will this membership help me if I have multiple children of different ages and reading levels?

Absolutely! Within the membership there are 3 levels of content - Reception (First Year - starting to recognise letters and blend words/read simple sentences), Year 1 (Second Year - reading longer words and complex sentences, building comprehension and vocabulary) and Year 2 (Third Year - the higher levels of reading). You have access to every level as soon as you join up and will be able to use any and all resources. If you have multiple children, you'll be able to access activities to suit them.

Equally, many of the activities have strategies to help you extend or make them easier to suit your children, meaning that you can play the same game with multiple children!

What kind of support will I receive as a member of the community?

As soon as you join, you'll gain access to the Raising Readers Facebook group, only for members of this course. In there, you can celebrate any wins or ask any questions you may have and myself and other members of the community will be there to celebrate with you or support you when needs be!

Not only that, but each week you get additional suggestions of games to play and sounds to focus on and a variety of other resources to help you feel confident when supporting your child's reading.

We run fortnightly Support and Resources sessions where we can go more in depth into any reading roadblocks you may be facing and work together to overcome them.

Also, if at any time you need more support, my inbox is always open!

Is the Raising Readers Community suitable for children with learning difficulties or special needs?

Absolutely. The content is designed to take you through the stages of reading, from the very beginning up until the point your child becomes a confident reader (and beyond). There is no schedule you are required to stick to, so if you and your child need stay on a step for longer (or shorter), you absolutely can.

I have worked with several children with additional needs in my time as a teacher (and I've worked as a Dyslexia specialist tutor too), so if you have any questions or require more support, I'm here to help!

Can I access the content at my own pace, or is there a specific schedule I need to follow?

The content will remain in the group forever (except where I edit it to make it better), so there's absolutely no pressure on you or your child to complete it to any schedule. It's all designed for you to go at your own (and your child's) pace.

It's split into months so that, if you'd like to, you can follow along with what your child's school is doing and feel confident that you're supporting them alongside their teacher.

Are there any additional costs or hidden fees associated with the membership?

No. The price of the membership is £37 and will continue to be so for as long as you choose to be a member of the community, even if the price rises for new members.

You get access to everything within the membership and nothing is behind a paywall.

Is there a trial period or money-back guarantee?

Yes, There is a 14-day no questions asked money-back guarantee, and you can cancel your subscription at any point before the next month's payment.

I have another question...

Fab! Pop me an email at [email protected] and I'll get back to you ASAP.
